The Continuing Saga of OBD Non-readiness

A while back I posted about my '96 900S convertible's inability to set the OBD II sensor ready codes, after the battery had been disconnected while some repairs were made to the soft top.
Since then I drove a couple of hundred miles in varying conditions. None of the five sensors ever showed ready, according to my Equus reader. In the end I took it back to the dealer I bought it from, explained that this model year was known to be problematic, and left it with them to get it fixed. It was/is driving me crazy.
Well, they have apparently taken it to a Test Center who say they will "reprogram" it and pass it.
How can it be this simple? I will believe it when I see it!
This post isn't a question, more a vent of my frustration ;-)
