I own MP and to say you wouldn't buy something from us because of one design is crazy. Orginally the KIC kit cost $400 it was only reduced due to trying to compete with us. As an engineer you should also understand that the rubber was added to out design to prevent the steering rack from rattling around, and is designed .001" smaller then the steering rack to give the tighest fit around. We have also sold over 500 of these kits so the design is a proven success. The KIC design was stolen from Abbott Racing.
I started MP Performance after trying to buy affordable products on the web and just could not bring myself to pay the $3k(Abbott ECU $1000, VRK $750, RSB $250, Diverter valve $250 and installation $1000) need to increase the enjoyment of my car. I couldn't find a affordable solution and bought $3K worth of stuff from Abbott Racing for my car which was the biggest mistake. I had Abbott America(AA) install the parts only to find my car could not start afterwards. AA then tried to fix my car claiming the problem was related to other parts on the car. After spending $1+k on parts AA and Abbott Racing claimed I needed if turned out the problem was related to the ECU I bought from Abbott Racing. I then couldn't afford the parts I once bought from AA and they would not compensate me for my inconvience, so I sold some of the parts I bought from them and decided to make my own parts. The parts I made were of such good quality that people locally started to ask for them. I then put up a group buy for them on TSN. About thirty people joined the group buy and MP was born.
In response the orginal post he is correct the bar that was sent out was a second quality bar that we keep around our shop. The local high school kids prefer to buy the second quality stuff to keep there cost down. The second quality bars are the bars used to set up the machines.
