Never heard of a DI before, but it got me! 2001 9-3

I am pretty sure I just got nailed with a DI problem. Car has been fine, maybe a little stumble in the mornings lately. On the way home from work I am slowing down for an intersection and the car just dies during rush hour. No power and people swearing all around me while I try to coast for safety at the side of the road.
Until this evening I had no idea what a DI was, or that they tend to go bad on the 9-3. Mine is a 2001 with 59,000 miles and I got a really faint nasty odor inside the car, so my guess is I have been nailed.
Since the car is 9,000 miles and 4 months out of warranty I had to pay for the tow, which is going to be at least $200 plus whatever the dealer screws me over for. Probably $700 - $900 in the end.
At least my wife is now saying to get rid of the Saab and get a reliable vehicle like a BMW or Volvo. Hah, I don't think anything is reliable in a Euro car - I'd have to go to a Honda and they don't have any hatches that I like.
Thanks for listening!
