The throwout bearing doesn't care whether there's any real load on the engine. If that's it, you should hear it the same in neutral. Turbo, T-O-bearing, & drive belt pulleys are not real close to each other, so if you can pinpoint the location of the noise...
When under load the turbo spins faster. So when you lift between gears, it seems louder while it spins down. But maybe you can look at the wastegate or some of those vacuum hoses & valves that control it. Especially if this sound is a NEW feature that just started.
