Fix or Salvage?

Labor Day, 9/5, my 1996 SAAB 900SE Automatic Turbo 2.0 with 117K miles that I purchased only 40 days prior, was hit while legally parked by a drunk driver along with my neighbor's car (two cars hit plus his all heavily damaged). The driver admitted he was at fault and is fully insured.
My car was heavily damaged with a broken "front axle joint (the transmission does not work), axle drive joint, front knuckle, steering shaft, axle outer boot, shaft inner boot, shaft outer end, tie rod outer panel, rocker panel", and much more front-end damage, bottom passenger door, totalling 4 pages in the insurance adjuster's accident report. The car was hit from the passenger side while parked.
The damage cost equals what I paid for the car, $4,000! Via a Carfax Report, my car was never hit prior to this accident. Both insurance companies (his Allstate, and mine The Hartford) are satisfied with repairing the car. I want the car written off so I can buy another Saab that has not been damaged!
My question is: Should I allow my Saab Dealer to repair the car, with a one-year warranty on repairs, or should I insist the car be totaled so I can purchase another Saab that has never been hit! Can this car be repaired and become a reliable, problem-free car again?
I have never used a message board before and have little knowledge about the mechanical aspect of cars.
IN SUMMARY, SINCE MY 9 YR. OLD CAR WAS NEVER HIT, DO I HAVE SETTLE FOR A CAR THAT HAS BEEN "PIECED BACK TOGETHER AGAIN" THAT WAS HIT WHILE PARKED BY A DRUNK DRIVER vs. THEM 'TOTALLING THE CAR' AND GIVING ME A CHECK FOR ITS PRIOR VALUE, TO BUY ANOTHER SAAB? TSN, please advise. Thank you.
