1. First you don't know what is in there. Do you have any idea how long it has been in there?

It may be time to replace or to be safe you might just want to replace it anyway.

2. You have possible coolant leak.

Where is it going? Being this car is new to you I'd want to determine issue promptly. Have system tested for leak.

3. The oolant type.

Some coolants don't mix well. Others are fine. You may well be fine adding a universal coolant if you need to get something in there now but I'd have everything sorted out soon. The main concern is usual about long term protection. But it probably isn't save to conclude anything if you don't know what is being mixed.

Don't know anything about Texaco EXT 6024. Does your owners manual make a reference to SAAB Brand Coolant as G-48? This is my guess of what is officially called for on a 1995.

If your flusing and replacing the coolant I'g stick with SAAB/BASF G-48 specificantion or Zerex/BASF G-05 specification coolant.

The G-48 is pretty much only available at European car dealers that use or have recently used this coolant in their products. The Advantage of the G-05 is it can be found at many autoparts stores. They are chemically very similar and were both originally developed by BASF in Europe (but produced in U.S. by Ashland Oil under Zerex brand name). If you have it done at a SAAB dealer make sure you know exactly what they are using (is it definately G-48 specification). Recently SAAB has adoped GM DEXCOOL for newer cars and they might try to switch you to that or something else they buy off the shelf for the older cars.

Search the various forums for coolant, G-48, G-05. Is really is religion with some and there is many posts.

I can't believe this got so long. BTW you want to post for your 95 900 NG900/OG 9-3 board. Scott will move this thread over when he sees it so no reason to repost it.
