If the body is really good and you've become attached to it, for about $2k you could have a good used 50k mi. engine put in. Add another $1500 for redoing your front suspension and replacing other incedentals, and you'll have a decent car that can go another 100K miles: for $3500, you'd be hard pressed to find a more reliable car.
Most people aren't up to maintaining high mileage cars, but if you are up to it, the folks on this board are usually supportive.
