Still, I just pull the plug and let it go until it's just dripping about once a second. There's a lot of oil up in the engine that won't come out unless you drain it for hours, and life's too short. And it just doesn't matter, IMHO. The old stuff won't hurt the new oil and I use a good filter and Mobil 1 or Syntech, so I think I'm good.

Draining longer has to be a case of diminishing returns. If you drain it for an hour, why not 4? Or over night? Or for a week? Or just drop the oil pan every time?

How many Saabs have gone 250K miles or more with basic 20 minute oil changes? The oil and filter are critical. Not the compulsiveness of the drain time.
