I'm using a 3/8 stubby ratchet and holding it by the head. When I originally took the drain plug out- it came loose by just turning the extension without a ratchet. So when installing the new one, I tried to hand tighten with a 1/2 " extension on the 13 MM socket. And that was not tight enough, so I gently tightened with ratchet.
I'll check again to ensure there is nothing stuck in the hole. It feels plenty tight. But maybe it is still not going into the opening deep enough.
I changed all the hoses, the T-stat, the temp sensor, none of which gave me any trouble at all. Only trouble is the simplest of all- the drain plug!!
