Ok, sounds like there is no way visually to check the displacement of the engine--got to go with my gut on this one. My gut says stay away, the care felt like it needed mounts (motor and trany) which is not suprising or in itself a problem. But if you spend the time to replace a motor, I would think new mounts would be in order. I get the feeling they dumped a motor in the car to sell it.
I am going to look at a 1999 Viggen coupe that actually has a blown motor--seems like a good plan to put a new motor in one if I can get it for a good price--that way I am starting clean. Motors don't seem that bad--I have been quoted $1800 to $2400 depening on year and milage. My mechanic quoted about $1000.00 to put it in. So if I can get a good price and the car is clean--I just might go for it.
Besides it is "lightning blue" awsome color--the wife ought to HATE it, my kids will LOVE it--perfect project car!!!!!!
