I think Ron is right on with the work and items involved. I would add a seal for the input shaft which comes out the front of the transmission. I recommend replacing all the seals as oil leaking out of the transmission is the thing I worry about most. It is very hard to check the oil level and fill these transmissions. The check I like best is to not see any oil spots on the garage floor. Also, a caution when installing the drivers side axel through the seal and into the transmission. One time I did this I managed to pop the spring off the inside of the shaft seal and had an instant leak with the new seal. This required installing a new seal. The second time I took the advice of a professional mechanic and packed the inside of the seal with Vaseline which prevented the spring from popping off. No leaks the second time. It's a lot of work. Best to get it right the first time.
