Don't know if I have seen a B205/235 engine with less than 15mm extension on the tensioner.
That's how weak the guide system and chain is.
Interesting what you say about the 18mm. I haven't seen or heard about that but I have always believed that changing the allowed stretch from 11 to 15mm on the B205/235 engine was due to the early stretch and not having to replace engine parts under warranty.
The good new is that I haven't seen a broken chain in all these engines so even though they stretch quickly, they seems to rattle along quite nicely for many years.
The oil leak is notorious and if your VIN is below 12055139/17018281 I would replace the headbolts and torque gasket and make sure the PCV system is up to snuff and the latest style. That will minimize the leak as best as possible.
