Noise when backing up and turning Posted by Bob E [Email] (#404) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bob E) on Sun, 24 Nov 2013 06:12:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
2001 9-3 SE with 160K. When backing and turning hard left, a knock or thud is occurring. Seems to be increasing. I have researched several times on this BB and here is what I have done:
1. Inspected springs and their are no breaks
2. Changed out strut mounts with new ones
3. Struts have recently been replaced
4. Replaced sway bar links (snapped both when changing strut mounts)
5. Checked that the steering rack is tight and the bushings don't seem dry rotted or cracked
6. Changed transmission mount and passenger side motor mount. Originals seemed okay.
7. Someone had suggested backing out the subframe bolts, cleaning and retightening-did that. Back set of subframe bolts were really rusted right under the head of the bolt.
Anyone had any thoughts? Leaning towards the rack, cause there isn't much left. Thanks!
