higher revs correlates with warmer engine/oil, further?

Bazil,
Thanks for the response, been struggling with where to even go with this one. This is first likely 'internal engine' issue I've had, everything else has been external/accessory related (alternator, PS lines, etc) so this is new territory for me.
Clarifications:
I had a newer PCV, replaced it a few years ago, ~2011?, as part of maintenance, but it would not be a #6 fix like for the T7 cars, just a newer part.
Engine revs issue seems to be with distance/engine and oil temp. Restarting the car when I changed the oil, no light again till car warmed up, then only at idle... wait a minute, then it's up to 1500 RPM, and assuming trend would've continued, but I shut it off (willing to admit past mistakes, won'd be doing that again).
So... you say bottom end issues... like bearing wear, or sludge, what am I trying to diagnose or look for? Last oil change was ~3k miles ago, but I did replace flex pipe about 1500 miles ago, and it looks like I might have accidentally put the catalytic converter a bit closer to oil pan than it was, that wouldn't have sludged that quickly, would it?
Any insights or thoughts would be appreciated. I'm not super-experienced, but I'm willing to try working on most things to figure it out... $'s tight enough, I don't want to give up on it yet, but since it's a $1k car, don't want to completely overhaul either (especially not paying someone else if it's beyond my ability).
