Just made the same leap about a month ago. Not sure if anyone else covered, but look for rust in the door sills (under the viggen decal, next to front seats, in my case drivers side) and if you can get under it, above the rear springs. My '99 also has some rust at one of the floor pan seams. Not deal breakers, but those type of repairs should be a consideration. Rust control is probably better than a C900, but its still a factor. They were apparently prone to leaks at the tail lights and gas cap area, so get under the rug in the hatch. Mechanically...the jury's still out. I've got noisy steering, a 2nd gear that likes to pop out of gear on its own, and intermittent warm start issues. And I ate a big A/C repair right out of the gate (evaporator). Still shaking it down, but it cleans up nicely. For the most part, if I can keep the car watertight and rust free, the mechanical stuff is the cost of doing business with a fairly uncommon $5500 car. Good luck!
