Yes, you are correct. Figure about $400 for tranny R&R and seals, and another $400 for a clutch kit and cable. I don't know of any input shaft seal catastrophic failure stories, so as long as you keep an eye on the drips, you're probably ok. You may be waiting a long time, I think Dean said the clutch on his '95 SET is still good at 155k miles.
The only concern is that the leak you see may be from the rear main seal rather than from the input shaft, they'll both drip from the same area. I have heard of one or two sudden rear main seal failures. If you're certain its the input shaft seal, then you should be fine as long as you stay on top of the transmission oil level.
So you'll be a two-Saab family now? Great!
