I have read past posts stating that a battery in marginal condition will impact the Direct Ignition system. Maybe the colder temps are reducing your battery output enough to cause the problem at startup.
If it's the original battery (hard to imagine with a Saab - my 1st one died at 10k miles), you are prob due for a new one.
