I have a '97 900SE coupe, 52K, with the SAAB stainless steel sport exhaust and a K&N air filter. I have also purchased an extended warranty (5 years or up to 100K). The exhaust and filter do not void the warranty (factory or extended).
The sport exhaust is not as quiet as the factory exhaust, but it is quieter than many rice-racers out there with 4" exhausts. The lifetime warranty on the stainless steel exhaust is a bonus. Noise level is acceptable inside the car, but can be startling to drivers behind you. SAAB claims a 7 bhp gain with the sport ehaust, and the K&N is supposed to be good for 2-3 bhp. I asked SAAB-USA for the torque/power curves for the sport exhaust, and received some after a month or so. Is the extra (claimed) 9-10 bhp noticeable? Maybe - it depends on the day. Turbo spool-up is faster, and the needle seems to hang in the red zone (on the turbo boost gauge) longer. Very subjective, of course. My friend has a G-Tech, but I've not tested the car yet.
I'm not interested on more extensive mod's, other than something to improve the handling a bit.
My 2 cents - JMJ
