There is not a chiltons manual for this vehicle. And the Hanynes is good to have but not very authorative. They have some wireing diagrams, but for the manual controls only. Thus I had no idea that the controller was a separate module, or that it worked on the ground side of the fan. I am not surprised that there is a separate module, as I did not think that the control module would be a great location for power circuits or heat disapation.
Removing the glove box and other trim is fairly easy, but will take perhaps a bit more time than you might expect. I don't know if the glove box needs to be removed to get at it, or just the panel above the passenger's feet. When you drop that panel, in the back corner there will be a big plastic rivet. You need to push in its center with a blunt pin or wire. Then it will fall out. It is black on black, so seeing the center detail will be almost impossible, even with a flash light. Take that off first and see if the module is accessable. If not, proceed to remove the glove box. Dave says it is behind there, but we do not know if glove box removal is neccessary. I cannot remember if the glove box can be removed without removing the lower panel first. The module that you are looking for will have some heavy guage wires, and wire colors that match what you saw at the motor.
Please post your findings.
