If you were, as you mentioned, running on almost bald tires, and switched to brand new tires, they would most probably feel a bit vague and wavy...
most probably because you were accustomed to running on very little rubber, as opposed to now you are running on rubber which is not as "slick" or firm because your tires still have alot of tread in them...
also, they first few days you use the tire, they will still have some oils on them from the manufacturing process (not really "oil" just residues..) which should wear off in a few days...
just an idea, but I plan to get 730s in a month, and I'm going to do the alignment as well...
