I would like to know the answer too.
My cable doesn't seem to be slack as others described. Instead, it seems to have a slight hitch as I depress the pedal. I inspected the cable and it appears that there is a little wear about the cable near where it enters the clutch. It looks to me like there is an outer plastic coating that is wearing away.
The methods I have heard for replacing it sound unartful. The yank method? How do the techs do it? From the posts I have seen it sounds like it is a finicky part. If not set correctly, the cruise control wont work properly.
If you get an answer let me know.
