DRL make seeing other cars so much easier. This is especially good when you are trying to pass cars on a 2 lane road. Seeing oncoming traffic is a cinch. What I hate most are cars that don't have them (American tourists driving in Canada). It is much harder to see them in the distance. Americans should turn on their lights when crossing into Canada so that they don't stick out like a sore thumb in this country (and so I don't hit them).
I don't see the point in removing safety features from your car. Learn to enjoy it and know that your fellow drivers can see and avoid you better. Running your lights all the time will not really put more stress on your battery or alternator. And headlights are so damn cheap anyway, if you end up replacing them every 2 years instead of 3 is that really a problem? Peace of mind is worth $5 every few years.
Just my 2 cents.
