Mine was hung up by one of the plastic expansion rivets that holds the plastic surround for the ACC etc to the upper part of the instrument panel. It had dropped a bit out of place and was binding on the ACC unit at the upper left-hand corner. Once I figured that out and lifted the rivet with a screwdriver, as you say, the ACC module popped right out.
