An old trick for leaky tires... Posted by turrbo [Email] (#8) [Profile/Gallery] (more from turrbo) on Sun, 4 Dec 2005 20:44:31 In Reply to: Tire seal, yaofeng, Sun, 4 Dec 2005 19:44:30 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My indy taught me this trick and it works like a charm. His father (who worked on Saabs since they first started coming into the country) passed it down to him.
Rub automatic transmission fluid around the edge of the inside and outside of the tire. His reasoning is that it softens up the tire so it forms a better seal to the imperfections of the rim.
I had the same problem with two of the wheels in my 900SE, and no tire shop could get a seal to hold. The ATF trick has worked for months. Now its time for the snows to go on!
