I download music, burn it to a CD for 33 cents, and I can fit oodles of songs as MP3's. If I burn a CD disk, I can fit 15 - 22 songs and bring 10 CD's for a total of 700 minutes worth of tunes. If I burn to a DVD, it's like unlimited tunes with 7 hours worth of tunes as WAV files, and 4 times that as MP3's. When I go on a long trip, I bring either my laptop or my PDA and have unlimited tunes by using an adapter (that came for free with my pocket CD player) to either my cassette deck or FM adapter. If I am on the subway, I bring burn't CD's and a pocket CD player for 10 bucks. I just don't see buying a 1, 2 or 3 hundred dollar item to do that when I get it done for pennies.

Can someone explain the attraction? I mean no disrespect. I just don't get it.
