It's funny. I like the autoboxes that work like the Porsche (?) Tiptronic where you hit the shifter to go to the next gear. I rent cars with that type tranny when I have a choice, and could live with that OK.
But I can't get used to paddle shifting, like on my wife's 9-5 wagon. Maybe it's the placement of the paddles on her car. It's fun, but my thumbs must need more training. I find I give it up and go back to Sport mode, which works just fine.
But yeah, modern automatics aren't bad at all. My next daily driver may well have one when the old 9K is retired.
