I dunno - in my experience it's almost always faster to do it the right way than go in with a hammer and pry bar and destroy everything in your path. Certainly safer, anyway.
I'm with Noel on this - being destructive is just plain mean. Not only are you costing the yard money, but you're potentially keeping someone else's car off the road. The stuff that's in your way could be the stuff that's going to get someone else to work on Monday, and I think you've got a certain responsibility to act courteously. Besides - one of the great things about the evolution of the modern you-pull-it is that it keeps crap out of our landfills - going in and mangling everything just means more stuff getting buried in the earth, and that's good for absolutely no one.
