we just have a different approach to life. For me, an electronic nanny is a waste of electrons. Sure the convenience is probably nice and provides a security blanket but it's hardly necessary.
It's sort of like going to Disney on vacation and thinking it's all real, as opposed to say, doing a rafting trip through the Grand Canyon. Going on a cruise as opposed to sailing the boat yourself. Or going on a high speed theme park ride versus going to the Indy Racing Experience or a performance driving school. Going on the hang gliding "ride" at Epcot Center, instead driving 45 minutes to Wallaby Ranch and going up in a real hang glider and start learning how to fly.
Risk is fun. Risk makes life more interesting. For the record I don't smoke, always wear a seatbelt. I don't ride motorcycles anymore, but when I did I always wore a helmet. I also heat part of my house with wood which I stack myself (but I do buy it already cut and split). I wear a helmet when I ski, but I do that at 40-50 miles an hour. As Jimmy Buffett has put it, "some play it safely, others take a chance." Life without risk and unpredictability is boring, and life should *not* be boring.
Still, tolerance for risk and unpredictability is in one's personality. Does OnStar play into this? I guess it does in some ways.
