I currently use Hagerty for my '91 Alfa Romeo 164 S and '91 Peugeot 405 Mi16 after Mercury Insurance in CA decided to attempt to cancel my policy for too many cars. Totally ridiculous, but putting the two cars on Hagerty was a major cost saver anyway.
Both cars only see about 2-3K a year maximum, and the rates are very reasonable. (I think I pay $460 a year for both cars?) I set an assigned value to each car based on (I think $15K for the Alfa and $7500 for the Peugeot) for collision coverage purposes and they set the rate accordingly. They offer a AAA-lite tow offering as part of the package as well. (I still have AAA Platinum coverage as that allows for towing up to 250 miles!!) I found them to have excellent customer service, and are very car savvy people too. When I called them and mentioned whether they would classify these cars, they said "we like to insure what we consider rare, appreciated and 'exotic' cars." I sent in pics of both cars and was insured within the hour.
I think they are worth a look!
Cheers,
Paul H.
I think a classic Saab 900TC would certainly qualify consider both of my cars are '91s.
