NY cell phone ticket

I got issued a ticket for operating a cell phone while driving in Saratoga Springs, NY. On the summons I need to return by mail, I have the option of guilty with an explanation, or not guilty with a request for a deposition. I did not admit guilt when he pulled me over.
I'd like to challenge the ticket, so that I can avoid the fine, and/or make them work a little bit harder to take my hard-earned money from me.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Any legal advice?
Thanks in advance,
Tim
P.S. save me the lectures :)
