I very much liked my V4s but..... Posted by Cmyles [Email] (#1126) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Cmyles) on Tue, 20 Apr 2010 18:30:09 In Reply to: I feel the same as you about the C900, AaronG, Tue, 20 Apr 2010 12:21:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The V4 cars were really fun. Fun to drive, fun to work on, fun to look at. I constantly had as many strangers come up to me and say "Wow, what a neat looking car" in my various V4 cars as when I drove other people's expensive "exotics" like a Porsche 911 Targa I used to work on. But once I drove a turbocharged Classic 900 I was home (and I sold all of my V4 cars, parts and tools. What an ass). Almost every time I see a nice V4 car for sale I have to stop myself from buying it (focus). The V4 transaxles were really interesting though not too sturdy, lots of little weak needle bearings. Good synchro units though
One time I had the hood up on one of my V4 96s when my brother and a fellow Saab master tech pulled up. The guy saw my shop cat sunning on the roof of the 96 and said "Well, I see you have the power unit out".
