Plenty of Saab only dealers have survived. But in some markets, like northeastern NJ and NYC, there were just way too many of them, and there was absolutely no way they all could survive, especially if they all built the huge showrooms on the highways.
Bergen County, NJ had Spreen's Saab in Hackensack, Ramsey saab in Ramsey, and Parkfield Saab in Bergenfield. Ramsey, part of a multi-brand, multi-location conglomerate, closed their dealership, and Spreen's couldn't afford the humongous real estate costs on the highway. Parkfield somehow managed to get the highway frontage and build the new dealership, and is the last one standing (and probably in debt over their heads...).
Is that 500 9-5s coming between now and the fall? and then more in the fall? If so, that's not all that surprising. Gives the dealers a couple each to offer test drives in while the others get ordered and built...
