Thank you for your response. I do not blame SAAB. I understand that SAAB needs to make money to stay in business. But the simple fact is: SAAB was originally conceived to be the "anti-car-car" designed by aircraft engineers.
The NG 9-5 is just one of many examples that contradict the entire design and engineering philosophy behind "SAAB." Nothing about original SAAB (pre 94 900 and 99, etc) still exists in the NG 9-5. Why even call it SAAB anymore? Call it a GMS (GM Sweeden).
People (including myself) were initially attracted to SAAB because it had unique driving characteristics, design, and safety unlike no other. The new SAAB 9-5 NG drives like a pedestrian mass market GM car like the Buick.
I was given the unique opportunity to test drive the NG 9-5 a couple of weeks ago. I soo much want to love the NG 9-5 but it drives like a Buick with a couple of cool interior and exterior design cues from SAAB. The engines are all GM by the way. SAAB did design the EMS and some of the interior and exterior bits but it is still a GM product. Nothing revolutionary about the NG 9-5. It is all hype and marketing.
