I have the same concerns. After hard braking and coming to a stop I try to avoid keeping a heavy foot on the pedal. I let up on the pedal pressure and only keep enough brake force to keep the car from rolling, if on a flat surface I sometimes let up completely on the brakes.
I would think after a hard stop from considerable speed, the entire rotor is at a uniformly hot temperature. Rolling forward a few inches a second later to let the pads grab a diffent spot on the rotor will only result in a hot pad squeezing a hot rotor at a different chord segment. In fact by rolling forward, and then using the brakes to stop the car again, are you not generating a little bit more heat from the second brake application? Would it not be best to just stop once and be done with it.
