Mini is a good example... That's more or less what I was saying: make a modern SPG and vert. That's the SAAB icon for many. Not for everyone, that's for sure, but to me, that is the heart of Saab. if a wagon or large hatch could follow on, great... but the fast, fun, practical, safe, and unique style of the SPG is unique. The Viggen followed on with that quite well. I don't see why one could not take that further. The 5 door version opens up a wider market than only a coupe. I suppose it really goes back further to the 99 turbos... anyway, even Top Gear saw it that way in their eulogy... that is the icon.
Basically, I think any new SAAB needs to be almost divisive in it's product placement rather than going bland and trying to be everything to everyone. They can't get into a low cost volume war, and the brand was always polarizing from day 1.
But I agree that the chances of success, regardless of approach, are probably not that good... I try to be optimistic, or at least open minded re NEVS... time will tell!
