My old construction firm in CT would offer a pay increase for employees not taking health insurance, IF the employee asked, and this was when we still paid a portion of the premiums for employees, though it was not a written policy, and not done for everyone that asked. This was a company with 30+/- employees.
The pay increases for not taking insurance went away when the company stopped contributing to health premiums and made the employees pay 100% of premiums, though we gave one time raises to offset the increased cost to employees. Hope you get the same if you go on the insurance eventually and if they too stop contributing towards premiums.
You should still be able to enroll in the future unless CT laws have changed since I administered this stuff, and your firm should have an "open enrollment" period for benefits once per year, where anyone eligible, can enroll in and pay for health ins. benefits.
There may also be "qualifying events" that entitle you to enroll in coverage when it is NOT open enrollment time.
Being ineligible for coverage under parents policy is (or was) such a "qualifying event", or losing benefits through a spouse (just another example).
I THINK the insurance companies are mandated to do this open enrollment in CT, or were and honor "qualifying events". The open enrollment is typically when the company renews the health plans for the year, and this does of course vary by company in CT.
Not sure how the new laws changed all of this. Good luck on getting an increase!
