I have three or four pair of jack standards, I know one pair is from Sears and one pair from Harbor Freight. Pretty sure I accumulated them all between 2003 and 2005, they're 9-11 years old. Given the life of a jack stand, I think agonizing over $70-$75 isn't worth it. $7 annually? Who cares? Whatever gets you to sleep at night.
A three ton jack stand is gross overkill for a Saab. One of them could support an entire Saab. I don't think you could buy jack stands that wouldn't gleefully support one end of any Saab without worry.
Bear in mind that often times jack stands with high load ratings are designed to support much larger vehicles. A 2,000lb rating is going to be aimed at supporting passenger cars. A 6,000lb rating is going to be aimed at supporting trucks. You may find that heftier stands create barriers to use - poorly sized surfaces or minimum heights that are much too high.
One set of stands I have - I don't remember the brand or where they came from - are rated for three tons. I bought them for supporting my 5500lb Suburban when I took it upon myself to polish the wheels (dumb idea). A few years ago I found myself short on jackstands and needed to support my XR4Ti with these. I ended up having to stack wood on my jack (which is a 3-ton jack with plenty of height) in order to hoist it high enough to place the jackstands.
IME, I use the cheap 2,000lb stands almost exclusively with cars. They are puny and small and don't require a lot of maneuvering to get under normal cars. I like that. I have a tendency to buy gross overkill tools figuring more is better, but man, turns out more isn't always better. Sometimes just right is just right.
