alternate washer Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Thu, 12 May 2016 11:34:53 In Reply to: C900 3-sp auto ATF drain had a fiber washer seal, walt [Profile/Gallery] , Thu, 12 May 2016 06:10:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I normally use either a copper washer, or one of these:

Mainly, I go with whichever fits best on the drain plug on the car (eg what was on there to begin with)... these are all c900's or 9-5's. I have a mix of drain plugs and have moved them around cars, so what is compatible with what has less to do with model of car vs model of drain plug. all my drain plugs fit all the cars, but subtle differences mean some washers only work with some plugs.
Like the others, I don't see any point in a fiber washer, and I've often wondered why people sell all rubber/plastic washers also. Those are about the only type available locally at generic autoparts stores in the stock sizes for SAABs. Seems really strange to me! You'd think they'd all have a full range of copper washers.
