What broke on the jack ? I hope my Roger Penske 2.5 ton jack bought some 30 yrs back at Kmart never expires, it has jacked up numerous vehicles over the yrs, hundreds of times .
But jacking the front of a car is straightforward, stands go under most any point on the subframe - usually where the wishbone attaches. Rear I put the stand where the trailing arm attaches, might need a stout block of wood under the stand to get elevation.
I remember owing cars with the old style bumper jack, slotted to attached to the fender and one used the lug wrench to rachet up the jack which had a small square base - that could be pretty unstable.
