...and it's not fixed!
I'm kind of pissed because when I took the head to the machine shop to be resurfaced I asked them to pressure-test it but they didn't do it.
Those heads are known for cracking, the service manual even discusses it. But small cracks are okay (per the manual) and none of the cracks in this head appeared larger than the spec.
But given the symptoms everything still points to leakage somewhere in the head. Replacement heads are expensive ($800 plus shipping from one seller I contacted) and after all the work I've put into the car I'm just done with it and want it gone.
