It's a well known fact that crime is more prevalent in summer than in winter. Ice cream sales are much higher in summer than in winter. Therefore, ice cream causes crime. Of course, the same argument could be made that crime increases ice cream sales. Namely, folks rob to buy ice cream.
The report noted that you do actually get higher fatality rates with trucks, but after factoring in rural information, it showed trucks were actually safer. However, I was unable to figure out exactly *what* those rural factors were. And seeing as most trucks end up in suburbia, I don't know what that means.
I did get this out of the article -
Trucks are more prone to single vehicle accidents, but people tend to get killed less often because of strong frames. They don't mention injuries. So you crash more, but die less.
The issue of car / truck accidents was sidestepped. There are statistics showing that in car/truck accidents, the occupants of the car loses out. This was not addressed. However -
With more SUV's, you're less likely to be killed in a car, because chances are good the SUV rolls over before it gets to hit you.
