I chose Saabs for the 15 years I lived in Alaska and N. Idaho---generally a long way up a private, unplowed road. After the first Saab, nothing else would do. I also ski a lot, and I've never missed out on a day because of bad ice or snow conditions. And never gotten stuck. In fact I've passed a few SUV's in the ditch! As Relax says, use a narrow snow tire; you'll be able to go just about anywhere, so long as there's clearance. All in all, you'll be happier, and safer, driving the Saab than the SUV. Good luck with the move (With the back seat down, they even make decent moving vans. Been there, done that).
