Force F = ma (this a good equation, it explains almost all things in mechanics)
Torque T = Fd (force times distance, d X F to be exact in vector form but let's not go overboard with this thing).
(as a side T = Iw where I = moment of inertia and w = angular acceleration, you can think of this as an analog to F = ma in rotational mechanics).
To make things dimenionally correct without inferring anything, we can manipulate the two equations:
Combining F=ma, T=Fd and substituting for F into T=Fd we get T = mad (pun intended), so we solve for acceleration:
acceleration a = T/(md) this relates a (acceleration) with T (torque) directly.
Note that acceleration is DIRECTLY related to torque. In other words, torque is what give you that, err, errr, turbo feeling, wheeee....
