I wouldn't do the Sarnia route as EGD suggests because it takes you too far north from I-94. The Windsor to Detroit Ambassador bridge route puts you right at I-94. If you look at a map of Michigan, you will see what I'm talking about. Staying south is better because you have to drive south of Lake Michigan in the Michigan/Indiana/Illinois area anyway. Traffic here going west on I-94 from Detroit is not bad at all either (but the roads are chock full of potholes).
