like a previous poster said, with the exception of the Northern Territory which has no speed limits, the 110km/hr (68.5mph)limit is generally rigidly enforced with high fines and lots of speed cameras except in really remote areas but you can be surprised there too.
Saab has discontinued the Viggen but the Aero (2.0HOT) is available.
Prices of european high performance cars are generally higher than the US or Europe once the car passes the $US27,000 mark due to a higher rate of tax for "luxury" cars due to our socialist tendencies and the everpresent australian desire to punish folks that want something a little better.
for example a CLK230 is about $US60,000 and the second hand viggen that I want to buy (1999 Convertible - 4,000km)is $US40,000. Nobody in all of Australia wants to buy it except me so I'm waiting for the car sales guy to realise that!
Those HSV GM Commodores are based on family sedans, they outhandle and outperform Saabs but the general quality is about the same as a basic ford or GM product - acceptable but lots of cheap parts to cut costs, I like my Saab better even if it can't beat a Commodore at the traffic light Grand Prix. At least it feels like it's screwed together a bit tighter.
