When I was in Geelong/Melbourne, a female policewoman let me off with a speeding charge. I was driving a big rental Toyota with a couple of Canadian flags stuck in the rear window while working with the Russians at AirShow DownUnder. I was moving out pretty good on a downtown Melbourne street.
I was treated with the greatest hospitality. The TV7 Melbourne station even lent me their golf cart to run errands at ASTA-Avalon, which was most generous of them. Of course, I got their cameramen on of the most powerful firefighting aircraft in the world while dropping water (see link) so they were pretty good to me.
The Rolling Stones were there when I was (I never saw that concert). The atmosphere was most festive.
