You have to admit that vehicles built in the former Soviet block countries didn't exactly have stellar build quality. And as far as design, they were usually copies of western cars. I believe some of the big cars the higher ups were driven around in in the 60s were built with tooling for Plymouth and Packard from the 50s.
You certainly can't compare a Lada or Chaika to a Faberge egg.
