Just want to let you know that this is a pretty loaded question :).
I kinda went through this last year, and I came up with a 900T because I like the lines, because I didn't need/want a big car, I wanted a 900T 3dr. I hadn't driven a 9000T(9kT) then, and even though the 2.3L was enticing, 9000s were also more expensive and had more toys (that could go wrong). So I got an '88 900T and I love it.
Since then I have had the opportunity to test drive 2 '92 9kT (2.3L, i think all 92 9kT were 2.3). And those suckers are faaast, faster stock than my 900T, but you can get a 900T up there pretty easily. The 9000's were surprisingly quick and nimble for their size, and the interior refinement is also very nice. My friend has a '90 BMW 525i(A-1 condition), and I would take the 9kT's over that any day. The ride / driving experience for the 900 vs. the 9000 is different. The 900 is a bit sportier, which I like. I also like the wraparound windshield of the 900. The 9000 has a more refined ride, and is obviously targeted at a more luxo market. In the end it is personal preference.
I am 24, no wife or kids, so I was after something sporty and smallish. Now if I was going to use the back seat often, I would prolly get a 9000. All in all, I am happy with my decision.
Both are very fine cars,
-Luis
