I agree 100%... People have this social stigma that platform sharing is some horrible thing when in fact very little might be shared between a Saab and an Opel. Did you know that the average Audi shares over 50% of it's parts with VW? Do Audi people rant and rave and feel ripped off??
Case in point, at one of the first public showings of the 2003 9-3 some guy totally flipped out when he saw "GM" stamped on the brake pads! For the next half hour all he did was rant and rave about it. Did he even care to look at the all-aluminum brake calipers behind those GM pads? (You won't see THOSE on the Opel/Saturn/Pontiac stablemates!)
He totally missed out on all the good things about the new car by concentrating on the irrelevant things. Heck, Saab is gonna have three different levels of brake calipers and pads for the new 9-3 (Linear, Arc and Vector). Why they did this is beyond me, but that's another story.
When it comes right down to it... As long as the parts are QUALITY and they are up to the performance standards of Saab, I don't care who makes them. They might even come from Deee-triot and still be good (why do people automatically assume that everything American is shite anyway?)
