the filter? Isn't there all kinds of junk your filter cleans out of the oil, or doesn't that matter with synthetics?
Sort of reminds me of a guy I knew in the late 70s who had a Corvette and only changed the oil occasionally, but every 3K or so would change the filter and add quart. Car ran fine and long.
Then there's my indy who says the strainer in the newer Saabs is very fine and can be plugged easily, so that more frequent changes are necessary to keep the strainer clear. (he has done 9-5 engines at 50K due to oil starvation and routinely drops pans and does strainers on NG 900s and 9-3s.
I don't doubt the syn oils are great, but it still gets dirty. Not sure I trust the car to know. And I'd love a long change interval.
